Ateneo de Davao University ID Badge Redesign

Project Description

The Ateneo de Davao University Identification Badge design in 2000 has been in use till 2014 and I wanted to redesign the ID ever since I was the Samahan Creative Team Head, now with the Ateneo Communications Team and permission from the Office of Student Affairs Director I was able to start the redesign. One of my goals was to make the design less Beveled and Dropped shadow cheap.

Project Details

Client: Ateneo de Davao University
Date of Completion January 2015
Skills: Layout, Branding, Redesign, ID

So I went and did variations on the ID.
First thing I killed was the insanely UGLY Bevel and Emboss of the Ateneo de Davao University Type Logo which is the wrong logo too by the way. I also replaced the ugly Microsoft Fonts (Eeeeewwww Microsoft and Windows Fonts *vomits)

Since our official University Typeface is Trajan Pro. I replaced the Microsoft Font with the Official Font Type of the University.

I also focused on making the student Photo Bigger because most students do a whole lot of effort to block out their face. So we chose to position the photo in a location that wouldn’t be easily blocked out. (I also did experiments trying to block it out)

Also we added focus on the new building as requested by the Student Affairs Director and add the variation and space for the QR Code and Bar Code

After the student affairs director approved the main design for the student. I just altered the previous faculty and gradschool layout to match the approved design and then poof you have the new ID design.

This design might change once the buildings are completed as I would want to replace them with the “Real” photos rather than the rendered architect design.

So far I hope you guys enjoyed reading this.
