Based on the emerging story concept of the “Collective Journey”, coined by Jeff Gomez,

This prototype explores creating your very own unique story universe, together as a group. Challenging the traditional, linear Hero’s Journey,

This collective creativity process aims to let participants build a complex narrative

This approach provides participants with an understanding of fragmented storytelling, and how to deal with multiple, intertwined story-lines within a wider narrative timeline.

The Inspiration of this was based on the writing structure of Heroes,
where each character had their own arc in the bigger story arc
and how writers did their writing in the early seasons of Heroes

STEP 1

Teams establish individual stories based on the story world rules. Each team creates one story with a total of 10 scenes and articulates and individual challenge proposition.

STEP 2

The teams of each group come together and pitch each other’s stories. The group either chooses to select the story with the most potential or combines elements of various stories to a stronger narrative. The unifying community challenge also needs to be defined.

STEP 3

The two groups arrange their stories on the timeline boards.

STEP 4

Each group pitches their story.

STEP 5

Both groups collaborate in linking both final narratives within the unified story-universe, adding layers and spin-offs along the timeline. The ultimate community challenge needs to be reestablished or integrated with existing propositions.
